Dealerscope: Would you give our readers a bit of background on the company – its origins, how it has developed into a retail-solutions-driven enterprise, and the types of CE dealers you serve at present (i.e., what product categories they carry)?
Richard C. Haviland: MarketSource has been helping retailers, dealers and CE manufacturers sell more, faster for more than 35 years. We started out marketing products to college students. Within the first few years, as our business mix evolved, we found our sweet spot; we excelled at driving sales of complex products and services that retailers, dealers and manufacturers found difficult to market.
They found that our ability to place high-quality sales professionals on the floor to either engage their customers directly in consultative conversations, or train retailer associates, resulted in incremental sales that drove those difficult categories and product lines. This has led to engagements with hundreds of major brands and product categories in retail including Consumer Electronics, Telecom, IT, Appliances, Automotive, and Financial Services.
