Onkyo Unveils 2016 Lineup of AV Receivers with Multi-Room Connectivity
Onkyo USA, which is celebrating 70 years in the business of manufacturing high-quality home theater and hi-fi solutions, unveiled its lineup of a/v receivers scheduled to debut this year. Onkyo said the 2016 class of products redefines the “expectations for price-to-performance.”
Included in the lineup are the TX-NR757 (pictured above), TX-NR656, TX-NR555 and the TX-SR353 A/V receivers. The first three named products bring high-current Dynamic Audio Amplification and “state-of-the-art” features to the mid-range with Dolby Atmos decoding, and they’re all DTS:X-ready. Onkyo said they also support 4K Ultra HD video and 4K upscaling, AirPlay, and WiFi with Google Cast, and Tidal music streaming.
Onkyo also announced that, via a future firmware update, the receivers will get the new FireConnect multi-room audio technology. Powered by Blackfire, FireConnect is a “stable wireless protocol” that sends any audio source connected to the receiver—be it vinyl or streaming audio—to an optional Onkyo speaker or another FireConnect-compatible device in another room.
