Online Holiday Spending Rises
Online spending in the first 41 days of the holiday shipping season has increased three percent from the same period last year, just below $20 billion. That's according to numbers released this week by research firm comScore.
The survey covers the days Nov. 1 through Dec. 11.
“Although this most recent week of holiday shopping did not produce the first $900 million spending day, we saw above average growth rates including a strong end to the week,” comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni said as part of the release. “Monday, December 14 – otherwise known as Green Monday – is likely to produce our heaviest online spending total for the season and represents our best opportunity to finally surpass that elusive $900 million spending threshold.
