Worldwide personal computer usage has hit a milestone, as more than 1 million computers are currently in use. That’s according to a survey, cited by Reuters, from the research firm Gartner, which ads that usage could double by 2014.
The major reason for the quick growth is widespread adoption in emerging markets, Gartner said. While “mature markets” accounted for nearly 60 percent of the first billion computers, they will likely comprise only about 30 percent of the second billion.
