Pacific Media: Customers Prefer Front Projection for Watching Movies at Home
Pacific Media Associates’ North American Dealer Survey’s near-final results indicate that front projection displays edge out rear projection and flat panel for watching movies in the home. The results are based on 50 percent of dealers who claim that their customers believe that flat panel and rear projection are all good and well for mainstream television, but that movies benefit more from front projection. Michael Abramson, vice president of Pacific Media Associates, claims that “when it comes to the true home theater experience — watching movies — front projection is apparently the preferred choice among consumers.”
In addition, the survey reveals that only 5 percent of dealers are encumbered by customer concerns about ambient light issues when trying to make a front projection sale, and only 15 percent run into problems getting customers past installation and home decor issues.
