Panasonic Launches Multi Room Music Server

Panasonic enters the digital music sever business with the Solsys SC-PTX7. The Solsys is a DVD/CD home theater system with an integrated 80GB hard drive. It can rip music from CDs or connect to a PC via Ethernet to transfer music files. It’s also XM ready and is compatible with Panasonic’s iPod dock. The unit ships with two speakers and a subwoofer as a 3.1 system, with the center channels housed in the L and R satellites and using Dolby Virtual Speaker to create a surround experience.

Using 2.4GHz frequency, the system can wirelessly send music to client stations throughout a house. It can send up to two separate music sources simultaneously. The system also upconverts standard DVD to 1080p via an HDMI connection. The main system will sell for $799 in April with the client stations going for $199. --Grant Clauser
