Panasonic and Palm Crusade for the SD Memory Card and Supportin
A parallel promotional campaign is under way from Panasonic and Palm, Inc. to promote the SD (Secure Digital) memory card that was jointly developed by Panasonic's parent company, Matsushita Electric, SanDisk and Toshiba. A mail-in offer for free Panasonic SD cards is part of the plan, with the purchase of select Panasonic digital cameras, digital camcorders and SD-ready audio products. Palm will also give away free Panasonic SD cards with the purchase of the Palm m125, m500 and m505 handhelds.
Television ads have begun to run on A&E, the Discovery Channel, ESPN and CNN to promote the SD card offers. The NBC Astrovision by Panasonic in New York City's Times Square will also show 30-second spots for the SD card offers.
Panasonic, is a founding member of the SD Card Association, which now counts more than 360 member companies. The technology behind SD memory cards is non-proprietary, making it easy for many companies to develop products for the postage-stamp sized card.
