Panasonic projected that worldwide IPTV sales, currently accounting for 20 percent of all TV sales, would account for 42 percent of all sales by 2014.
Jim Sanduski, Panasonic senior vice president, said the 2011 VIERA TV plasma lineup would experience an upscaling in screen sizes from 54 to 55 inches and from 58 to 60 inches. The company, he added, has also bettered 3D performance with new crosstalk-reduction circuitry and new, brighter phosphors. The newer sets’ power consumption will average 25 percent less than in previous models, he said. Twenty-seven 2011 TV models will feature VIERA Connect, and three of four Panasonic Blu-ray players would have 3D capability, up from one in four in 2010.
