A panel of six in-vehicle industry professionals gathered Thursday to talk about connectivity in the car and devices that prevent driver distraction and promote safe driving.
Each industry professional spoke briefly during the session titled, "Driving Connected: Built-in, Brought-in or Beamed-in – Developing Cars That Don't Crash and Devices That Don't Distract".
Steve Millstein, President, Cross Country Automotive Services and President of ATX, started the session off, talking about connectivity in the vehicle. He said that connectivity is the future of the industry, not as a revenue stream, but for internal ROI. He also stated that connectivity is key for decosting the vehicle, marketing and selling vehicles, designing, servicing vehicles, monitoring vehicle performance, enabling safe use of drivers' personal devices, operating vehicles with alternative power trains and customer retention.
