Parrot will announce something hip and convenient for the college crowd or audio enthusiast at the CTIA Wireless show Tuesday. The Parrot Boombox is a wireless Bluetooth portable stereo speaker that’s compact enough to fit in a dorm room, while sleek enough to blend into a living room.
At 60 watts, delivering 2.1 sound, it’s compatible with any Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) music source, such as mobile phones, PCs and Bluetooth transmitters. It also includes an RCA auxiliary line-in plug to provide access to analog audio devices like CD players, tuners and MP3 players.
“People asked us when we were going to come out with a more modern, contemporary looking sound system that could appeal to Generation M [as in mobile] and that’s the Boombox,” said Ed Valdez, president and COO of Parrot. “Everything you get with our Sound System [released last year], you get with the Boombox, except at a lower price point and sleek design that will definitely appeal to a younger generation.”
