Passion for Invention Is Allsop's Heritage
According to Jim Allsop, "The product was not functional, but we thought the idea was good." After a round-robin of patent research, patent and license acquisition and redesign, Allsop Inc. produced the 3-in-1 Cassette Deck Cleaner from Allsop, and distributed the mechanical system with a battery-operated point of purchased display-so consumers could see "this little unit scrubbing its heart of the audio head and capstion," said Jim. "That POP, in addition to this new, fresh way to clean tape decks, changed the fortune of the company."
In 1979, Allsop opened a opened a plant in Ireland to serve the European and Middle East markets. Thereafter came the Allsop Video Cleaning System, the Orbitrac record cleaner, the first CD cleaner, a slew of new computer accessories and lots of eye-catching point of purchase displays for retailers.
The innovation continues. At this CES, Allsop introductions will include the LineGrabber, a modified RJ-11 jack that allows a call priority to be programmed for a single telephone line and also new Natural Elements PC accessories that look and smell like wood because they are made from half wood waste and half recycled polypropolyne.
