President O. Perry Clay of Sharp Electronics Corp. retired, effective December 31. He had been with Sharp for 17 years, having left Westinghouse Electric Corp. where he served for 23 years. He will continue to serve Sharp as an advisor to the chairman for an agreed period to assure a seamless transition. Sharp has not yet announced who will replace Clay. The company also named Bob Scaglione vice president of marketing of the company's consumer electronics group. Scaglione joined Sharp in 1989 as a sales manager for audio/visual products.
Dr. Herbert Wörner will hand the reins of CEO and president of BSH Bosch over on January 1, 2001. After 13 successful years, Wörner is retiring from his position. Dr. Kurt-Ludwig Gutberlet will be taking up the reins. Gutberlet has been with the company since 1983.
RadioShack Corp. promoted David Edmondson to president and COO of the corporation. Edmondson joined the company in 1994 as vice president of marketing.The company also recently announced the appointment of Rich Pendergast to vice president of organizational development. Pendergast has been with the company for 18 years. This is a promotion from his last position as senior director of people development. Carolyn Hoopes was also promoted to vice president and assistant corporate secretary. Her new position requires her to be the key liasion with the corporate board of directors. Hoopes has been with the company for 16 years.
