AVAD, a Van Nuys, Calif.-based distributor of home technology products, hired Mike Gleason as vice president of sales in charge of creating universal sales strategies. Gleason most recently worked as vice president of sales for Fujitsu’s Plasma Division. Prior to Fujitsu, Gleason worked for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. In his new position Gleason will act as the communication link from the salesperson and AVAD dealers up through the corporation.
Akimbo Systems, San Mateo, Calif., hired media industry veteran Thomas F. Frank as president and CEO. Frank served in advertising, content licensing and Internet media roles at Real Networks, Dick Clark Productions, Leo Burnett Company and Carolco Television. Joshua Goldman, who has served as CEO of Akimbo since its launch in 2004, will continue to be involved with Akimbo while maintaining his seat on the board of directors. Akimbo delivers digital-quality video-on-demand via a broadband connection.
Algolith, a Montreal, Quebec-based developer of video image enhancement solutions named Yvan Ouellet as president and CEO. Ouellet has worked as an executive in the digital imaging industry for film, television and video gaming, with such companies as Softimage, LOR-TECH International and Miranda Technologies. Prior to his new job, Ouellet was head of sales for the Americas at Softimage, a subsidiary of Avid Technology.
