Pep Boys Entering Car Installations
Pep Boys has announced a new initiative in the 12-volt business that could lead to the creation of 500 new jobs for car audio installers.
The company announced last week that it has named Joe Proteau its director of 12 Volt, as part of a move to assume some of the installation business vacated by the demise of Circuit City and other retail chains. Proteau spent the last 12 of his 30 years in the industry working for Circuit City's Roadshop and firedog divisions.
The company said the initiative was an outgrowth of the work Proteau, along with Duane Christiansen, did in creating the Car Audio Installer Job Network. When the network launched in March, its creators said that they were "working with a national retail chain" in an effort to create jobs.
