A Sale Will Be Made Today!
A sale will be made today. Either I will sell you or you will sell me. An advertisement will sell you. Either the brand, product and packaging at the last three feet of the sale will sell you or you will sell yourself to another choice further down the shelf. Either a store sales person will sell you or you will sell the sales person on the reasons why you don’t want to buy something.
A sale will be made today and the only way for your sales people to command that opportunity is to earn the right to ask for the sale. Out of curiosity, when was the last time a retail sales person actually asked you “May I go ahead and place your order?” Or “May I go ahead and place this product in your basket?” If they did ask you this question, did they actually earn the right to ask for your order? Were they responsible through good selling to convince you to actually make the purchase or did you sell yourself? Did they actually solve a problem for you or did they create an environment to fulfill your content dreams?
The role of your retail sales people of course is to solve a problem for the customer and create a profitable opportunity for the business. I would add that we are often doing more than just trying to solve a customer problem. Sometimes retail selling is about creating magical enjoyment for the customer and ensuring that their dreams are fulfilled at the store and extended throughout their homes and offices.
