Pioneer Launches MIXTRAX
Pioneer Wednesday night unveiled MIXTRAX, a proprietary technology that creates a continuous mix from an entire music library. The global launch, which kicked off in Miami, also includes MIXTRAX-enabled in-car receivers, the STEEZ Audio line of boom boxes and a STEEZ Portable player.
Borrowing technology from its professional DJ division, Pioneer designed MIXTRAX to emulate a DJ by taking music from an iPhone/iPod or USB/SD devices and playing it back with added transitions and effects, said Ted Cardenas, Pioneer's director of marketing, who hosted the launch in Miami.
The solution reflects the way young consumers listen to music today, as well as the rise of the club DJ to the status of a rock star. "It's all about customizing their tracks to mixed songs and genres," Cardenas said. "Consumers want to listen to a non-stop mix. And it's not just in the dance clubs, it's everywhere."
