Pioneer Unveils AppRadio
Building on its “Rethinking Connectivity” strategy, Pioneer launched the AppRadio product at a press conference in San Francisco this week. The in-car product sports a 6.1 capacitive touchscreen which utilizes the storage, power and connectivity of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Therefore, the user's music, connectivity, etc. can go seamlessly from home to auto.
"In this 'instantly connected world' access to everything has to be at the touch of our fingers. The Smartphone is our gateway to portability powered by the world of Smartphone apps," Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for Pioneer's Car Electronics Division, said. “With over 600,000 apps available and 13 billion downloaded, the smartphone is the ideal easy to use an interpersonal device..but it is not a great automotive device! The connected world needs to be safely integrated into the car. That's why the AppRadio is the in-vehicle solution for the connected world.
“Our power users are a growing network of smartphone users who will remove their car's existing radio and have installed the AppRadio that their smartphone will easily connected to in the car," Cardenas added. "It also features the industry's first 6.1 inch touchscreen; easy to see and involves safe access to the world of apps."
