Dealers must provide XM with a copy of their business licenses and a state tax ID number. An XM Preferred Account must be certified as an authorized dealer by Alpine, Pioneer or Sony. XM does not require exclusive contracts. A dealer can sell both Sirius and XM satellite radio service. "We believe the customer will make the right decision," Zuckerman said.
XM will provide Preferred Accounts with access to demonstration accounts, merchandising, training support, an in-house account executive and inclusion on the dealer-locator on the XM web.
"We intend to have all of our agents trained at least 30 days prior to launch as well as merchandized within the 30-day window up to launch," he said.
