Polaroid’s PlaySmart 3D Printer

The Polaroid PlaySmart 3D printer, featured on the June 25 Showstoppers TV virtual product showcasing event last week, is a lightweight desktop 3D printer that requires no experience with 3D printing to operate, and can work with the scores of pre-existing designs available for download for free from the 3D community. Coupled with the easy-to-use Polaroid Prep software that comes with each printer, printing is said to be achieved with two clicks of a button after downloading and importing an existing model. Users can also draw from their imaginations and create their own designs using any third-party design package, says the company.

Several features are bundled into this machine, including: the ability to send models to print, monitor printing and control the printer, through the Polaroid PlaySmart app and in-built Wi-Fi camera; printing capability of multi-color models by pre-setting the printer to pause during a print so that the user can change the filament to another color; monitoring of filament material to assure there is enough to complete a project, by using the Polaroid Precise filament holder and scale that comes free with the printer; and the ability to select from a range of filament colors and materials for bespoke model requirements, including printing in a wood-like material. Other key features including a print size of 4.7 x 4.7 x 4.7in, variable print layer height of 50 to 300 microns, and a user-friendly 3.5-inch full-color LCD touchscreen to print directly from the printer.

The Polaroid PlaySmart 3D printer is compatible with PLA, PETG and P-Wood filament, PLA and PETG filaments, as well as the Polaroid precise filament holder and scale.
