Polk Audio Cofounder Georgi Dies
Polk Audio's cofounder, Craig Georgi, passed away earlier this week, the company announced Wednesday. He was 63 years old.
“On behalf of the entire Polk Audio and DEI Holdings teams, we are deeply saddened to hear of Craig’s passing, but we are equally proud of the innumerable contributions he made to both the company and the speaker industry as a whole," Ben Newhall, Polk's vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement."He brought heart to Polk Audio with a knack for problem-solving combined with an unshakable work ethic that set the foundation for our continued success. His influence is indelibly stamped on our culture.”
Georgi cofounded the company in 1972 and later ran production and manufacturing during his 30 years with Polk. He retired in 2008.
A private funeral service will be held in San Diego on Sunday. Georgi's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his favorite charities: The Home of Guiding Hands, The Challenged Athletes Foundation and The Salvation Army.
