Sharp Elite TVs Off To Good Start
Several dealers who received Sharp's new Elite LCD TVs have already sold out of their initial allotment, saying that the picture quality lives up to that of their Pioneer predecessor.
"They look stunning," said Craig Abplanalp, vice president of Definitive Audio, Seattle, from CEDIA Expo, which takes place this week in Indianapolis. "We were apprehensive at first, but the performance appears to be stellar."
Abplanalp's apprehension stems from the fact that most dealers have not had a chance to see the Elite TVs before they ordered them. That apprehension, though, quickly dissipated once dealers and customers saw them in action. Definitive received five units of the 60-inch and 70-inch sets and quickly sold them, a good sign considering their premium prices (the Elite PRO-60X5FD retails for $5,999.99, while the 3D 70-inch Elite PRO-70X5FD is going for $8,499.99).
