Tell us a little about your career history.
Fresh out of high school, I started college in Florida while working at a signage firm in Orlando. I quickly worked my way from warehouse employee into sales. I started in the Consumer Technology industry at Metra Electronics at the age of 22 as a West Coast Regional and quickly climbed up to National Sales Manager by the time I was 24. I’ve now been with Origin Acoustics for over two years in the National Sales Manager role.
What attracted you to a career in consumer technology?
It’s an incredibly fast-paced industry! It’s exciting that technology changes so rapidly and it’s fun to keep up and be on the forefront of all new products coming out.
What are the best initiatives available to attract women to careers in technology—and what hurdles are left to overcome?
The Women in CE group is an excellent source of camaraderie and networking to help women entering into the CE industry. It’s been helpful to have like-minded and driven women to help motivate and lift up others. It’s amazing how much this initiative has grown just within the last five years.
What accomplishments are you most proud of in your career?
Achieving National Sales Manager at a young age. I was also named a Dealerscope 40 Under 40 before 25, and have been a part of Women in CE for the last five years.
Any closing thoughts you’d like to share?
As with most male-dominated industries, it's women who will be the most influential leaders and innovators. Our unique insights and world views are what make us successful, and we are, for sure, needed in CE and beyond.
