Premium LCD TV brands such as Sony, Samsung, Philips, Sharp cut prices so far for Black Friday promotions that they are now no longer considerably more expensive than their "value-oriented" rivals such as Vizio. That's according to a study released Thursday by research firm iSuppli Corp.
That difference, for 32" LCD TVs, has dropped to as low as $61, iSuppli said.
“Premium brands led the way in terms of U.S. Black Friday LCD-TV pricing deals,” Tina Tseng, aniSuppli analyst, said as part of the announcement. “Average prices for LCD-TVs advertised by premium brands in advance of Black Friday were 23 percent lower than their average in mid November. In contrast, value brands reduced their prices by only 19 percent during the same period.”
