Obama Meets With Tech Leaders
President Obama Thursday met in Silicon Valley with several tech industry CEOs, including Apple's Steve Jobs, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Cisco's John Chambers and Google's Eric Schmidt.
The president, according to a White House statement, "specifically discussed his proposals to invest in research and development and expand incentives for companies to grow and hire, along with his goal of doubling exports over five years to support millions of American jobs."
Also Thursday, the White House announced that Intel CEO Paul Otellini has been named to the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. The council, which also includes GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt and other executives, is meant to find ways to promote job creation and economic growth.
