Audiovox’s ‘Wide Open View’
At Audiovox’s summer press conference in New York City, Dealerscope cornered Tom Malone to gauge the CE leaders position on a number of topics, including Audiovox’s acquistion of Thomson, the satellite radio merger and the flat panel market.
Dealerscope: What has the acquisition of Thomson’s RCA brand done for Audiovox?
Malone: It’s given us a very established position in the accessories category. We’ve had the Terk brand which we purchased several years ago, and Terk is a very specialized brand of accessories. Purchasing the RCA group allowed us to broaden our accessories reach within the store. The accessories category is typically a very profitable category so its intent was also to add to the overall profit strategy for Audiovox.
