Designed to help consumers guard against webcam hacking – a security breach that can be achieved with software that sells for about $20 on the Internet – startup company Privise has begun online sales in Europe of its Webcam Cover.
Mihael Sabeder, Privise CEO, explains to Dealerscope in a visit during IFA 2018 that the cover is produced and packaged in Germany. It fits any smartphone, tablet or computer webcam, is less than 1mm thick so as not to interfere with closing a laptop, and sticks to the device with a high-quality 3M adhesive that is reliable – yet the cover can be easily removed without damage and repositioned up to three times, he said. The covers, which are sold in one-, three-, five- or 10-packs, are designed to slide over the camera with the flick of a finger, and come in either white or black as standard. Sabeder said a range of other colors are available, as is special embossing with corporate logos.
A second product, an RFID blocking card for use in wallets, is also being made available.
