Project Scorpio: Microsoft's Gaming Platform that Promises to Keep Pace with Technology
Microsoft in 2016 isn’t the same company as in 2013. At E3 2013, Microsoft execs stood on stage to proudly talk about their next generation console, the Xbox One. They felt their vision of where gaming should go was the best, being power hungry to take on Sony and the highly anticipated Playstation 4. Microsoft seemed poised to once again be the market leader when it came to video games.
However, at E3 2016 that bright vision has now completely dimmed. Microsoft knows it can’t beat its competition, and instead the company is pushing to create a product that could reverse some of the major mistakes it’s made. That product is Project Scorpio, which will strive to be the opposite of the ideology Xbox One followed.
Project Scorpio is not a replacement for Xbox One, rather it's a new image to lead the Xbox brand. The new console is attempting to lead Microsoft’s future of consoles beyond generations, creating a world where video game consoles follow phones and have hardware upgrades without necessarily replacing the previous product. It’s an exciting future replete with possibilities.
