PS2 Marks Seventh Anniversary
Seven years ago this week, the Sony PlayStation 2 made its debut, an anniversary Sony is marking this holiday season with the release of a new edition.
Since its release in 2000, the PS2 has sold 120 million hardware units, and over a billion games. Sony’s gaming division said in a statement that it is “committed to a 10-year cycle” for the product -despite the release of the PlayStation 3- meaning the PS2 will last through 2010. This winter will see the release of the Ceramic White edition. The new edition will come bundled with the “SingStar Pop” game, and will be released in early November at a suggested retail price of $149.99.
