Publishing Mogul, Author Cathie Black Powers Up Women in CE
During CE Week 2012, the Women in Consumer Electronics (CE) organization, hosted its inaugural Power Your Career in Consumer Electronics: A Career Enhancement Forum, a full-day program aimed at empowering, educating and networking for group members and potential members.
The day begain with Cathie Black sharing resonating facts during the opening keynote address. Attendees heard, possibly for the first time, that women comprise only 7.5 percent of top earners at Fortune 500 companies, among other disheartening stats.
But this day was one of positivity, a time to focus on elevating women's careers and "what better place to do that than in the company of women," said Black, former chairwoman and president of Hearst Magazines and New York Times best-selling author of "Basic Black: The Essential Guide to Getting Ahead at Work (And in Life). Black is also former president and publisher of USA Today.
