Q&A: IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GET IN THE GAME!
DS: How is the Internet changing these days?
JS: The Internet is evolving, and it is going local. The search engines are desperately now trying to get local information because 25 percent of all searches are for local information. When
you type in “pizza,” you don’t want the Domino's national headquarters, you want the local pizza guy on the corner! Google wants to provide this. They want to sell ad words by markets. Google started Google Base so dealers would load products directly into Google. So now, if you search “dishwasher and “Elkhart” a shopping bag shows up. Google sees itself as the new Yellow Pages. I’m not even sure my kids know what the Yellow Pages are.
DS: What are some strategies for handling Google?
