Regional dealers recently shared with us some of the strategies they used to beat back the recession and how they plan to win in their markets next year. Here's what they had to say:
Dealerscope: What's the most important change or strategy you implemented during the last year to improve your business?
Burt Krieger, President, Boscov's, Reading, Pa.: Because we're a department store, we emphasize many businesses. With the electronics business, we've just re-established ourselves as the place to go. A year ago, we filed bankruptcy in August and came out of it in December, and that probably hurt our credibility a little in terms of customer confidence. It's taken a while, but we've overcome that, and we fully service everything we sell. We've reinforced our professional, commissioned sales force and our own in-house service operation.
