The maker of the DoorCam is back with the next iteration of its entry level smart video doorbell. Remo+ announced the launch of the RemoBell S, a $99 connected solution that offers a wider field of view, improved resolution, and motion zone customization. In addition, Remo+ includes three days worth of cloud storage for free.
The major upgrade over the previous line of RemoBell products is that the RemoBell S—alongside the recently released RemoBell W (the $199 solution)—is that they can be hardwired. Both models can run at voltages between 16 and 24 VAC. The original line ran on batteries.
“We developed the customizable features of RemoBell S, combined with the new hardwired connection, to offer enhanced security for our customers,” Paul Lee, Managing Director of Remo+, said in a statement. “Remo+ is all about making home security simpler. We want to give homeowners smarter tools so that they have greater control over what’s going on in and around their home.”
With the customizable motion zone capabilities, users can set the RemoBell S to send them push notifications when movement is detected within the motion zone that they select, such as their porch or walkway. Remo+ explains that this will eliminate those irrelevant alerts that are triggered by pedestrians on a nearby sidewalk or cars driving by on the road in front of the house.
In addition, the new wider viewing angle of the RemoBell S offers up to 180-degrees of vertical and horizontal viewing, which is the widest of any Remo+ product. The live video view will offer a “dewarping” display option that eliminates the fishbowl effect that you may experience with 360-degree cameras and other similar product.
Other features include full HD recording, two-way talk, clear night vision, on demand view from just about any smart device, “bank-level” encryption, weather resistance, and the ability to integrate with Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT.
