We’ve heard of fast-selling products, but this takes it to a whole new level.
A new unit of measurement, wps (Wiis per second) was established during the holiday season when, according to the Associated Press, online retailer Amazon.com sold 17 of the popular Nintendo Wii console every second, during the times when the console was actually available.
Amazon called 2007 its strongest holiday season ever, with sales driven by the Wii, as well as GPS systems and MacBook computers, as well as the DVDs of the latest Harry Potter and Pirates of the Carribean films, as well as “Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series.”
