Report: Customers Show More Interest in “Green” Products
A small but growing number of consumers are willing to spend more money on environmentally-friendly products, while slightly less than half of consumers care about the environment, but not enough to pay more money for greener products.
That’s according to a new survey released this week by Forrester Research, as cited by Ars Technica. The survey of 5,000 adults found that 12 percent would be willing to pay a premium for greener products, 41 percent care but not enough to spend more on green products, while the remaining respondents claim to place no value on greener products at all.
Forrester predicted that companies will begin offering greener products as consumer demand increases for them. The survey also recognized Apple as the company with the “greenest consumer base”- even though many activists, led by Greenpeace, have long bashed the company for its environmental policies.
