Report: Cyber Monday Nearing Black Friday as Most Popular Single Holiday Shopping Day
If you’re tired of reading articles on Black Friday studies and predictions, then you’re in luck! Rather than look any further into what might or might not happen on November 27, 2015, we’re adjusting the focus of our microscope ahead a few days—to Cyber Monday.
Today, the online marketplace RetailMeNot and Placed, Inc.—a firm that provides companies insights on location-based ad optimization—released the first annual “State of Holiday Shopping” study. The survey collected feedback from over 10,000 respondents making it “one of the largest studies of its kind” in garnering input from holiday shoppers.
The big takeaway from the study’s findings: While consumers are planning to spend more this holiday season (which we’ve already reported on), they also are prepared to hold out for some big Cyber Monday deals. And though Black Friday still reigns supreme (56 percent plan to risk their lives out in the wild that day), Cyber Monday has moved past the week before Christmas and the week before Thanksgiving to take the number-two spot for most-popular days to shop during the holidays with 45 percent saying they'd log on to their favorite retail sites that day.
