Research in Motion is expected to maintain its lead in smart phone market share in the coming months- but the beginnings of enthusiasm for Palm's new Pre are starting to appear. That's according to the latest numbers released by research firm ChangeWave.
According to the survey, around 11 percent of those asked say they plan to purchase a smart phone in the next 90 days, a number lower than last December's but still higher than any time the survey was taken prior to last September. And of those answering yes, 37 percent said they plan to purchase a product from Research in Motion's BlackBerry line, while 30 percent said they wanted an Apple iPhone.
Apple's number was flat from December, while RIM's dropped a couple of points. Meanwhile Palm, which will release the long-awaited Pre smart phone later this spring, reached 4 percent, the company's highest number since January of 2008.
