BlackBerry PlayBook Will Go 4G
Research in Motion's new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will become available in 4G versions for Verizon and T-Mobile later this year, the company announced at the Mobile World Congress Monday.
The tablet, which will arrive in Wi-Fi-only form in the coming months, was already scheduled to launch a 4G version on Sprint's WiMax network, but now will also launch on Verizon's LTE and T-Mobile's HSPA networks. The 4G tablets are expected to arrive in the second half of 2011.
“We are now building on the BlackBerry PlayBook's many advantages with support for additional 4G networks that will allow enhanced business opportunities for carriers and developers and unparalleled mobile experiences for users,” co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said in a statement to the media.
