Retail Giants Team On Mobile Payments
A consortium of major retailers, including Best Buy, Sears, Target and Walmart, have formed a new venture to deliver mobile payment capability.
The Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX) is, the companies announced Wednesday, "dedicated to offering consumers a versatile mobile-commerce experience that will combine the convenience of paying at the register with customizable offers."
Other charter members include 7-Eleven, CVS, Darden Restaurants, Lowe's, Publix, Shell and Sunoco. More members will be announced in the coming months.
