On Game Day, Kief's Audio/Video had its own block party going, with stunt bike riders, live music and demonstration cars from Clarion and Alpine—an event organized by students.
Participants were not required to buy or be present at Kief's to win prizes on Game Day, but of course people, mostly KU alumni, came and they bought. "In one day, we had a $106,000 day without [anything on sale]," Kiefer says. "We couldn't hardly carry it out fast enough. Sent two truckloads to the airport."
Kiefer recalls. "They (the students) made an event out of it, and it had nothing to do with 'We've got a $19.95 DVD player.' Those people wanted to buy from the store where the action is."
