Retail Sales: Worst Month Since 1995
Retail sales this year reached their lowest point in 13 years, according to the monthly survey of the UBS-International Council of Shopping Centers, the Associated Press reported Friday.
The survey, based on year to year figures, found that most major retailers saw a decline from the same period the year before, except for such discount retailers as Wal*Mart and Costco. The figures were mostly attributed to the weak economy and rising food and fuel costs, as well as home prices.
