Edward Taylor, vice president of TV Market Research at DisplaySearch, expects a 15 percent flat panel display surplus through 2007. He also predicts a slower ASP decline of 20 to 25 percent compared to 30 to 35 percent in 2006.
Based on what he’s heard from vendors, Nationwide’s Decker expects price drops of 15 to 20 percent during the first four to six months of this year.
Workman foresees more orderly price compressions through at least the next nine months. “September will determine whether we learned our lesson or whether the whole madness repeats itself for the holidays,” he said.
