Dealers Don’t Fear the Cheaper … 4K UHD TVs
Several dealers have told Dealerscope they see no benefit in carrying the cheap, off-brand 4K TVs. Other dealers, whether they choose to carry the sets or not, see no threat of the Chinese manufacturers eroding their top-tier TV business. Abe Yazdian, director of operations for the 18-store Electronic Express chain based in Tennessee, finds that most consumers won't pay more than $800 for a third-tier TV. Beyond that price, he said, they start looking at brand names. Vance Pflanz, of Pflanz Electronics in Sioux City, Iowa, also finds that once consumers experience a quality product, that's what they'll buy.
"We're actively demonstrating the Seiki and Sony. We let the customer make the decision," he said. "They buy what they like, and they usually buy the one with the better quality picture."
