Ray Farrar, account executive for BMA Media Group for Winner International, the makers of Juice batteries, said, "Cost-savings is the banner benefit, as [consumers] will save on countless battery replacements by recharging versus rebuying. For retailers, it gives them a unique category offering that most entrenched battery companies have failed to offer."
Jacqueline Burwitz, Energizer's investor and media relations spokesperson, said, "We offer retail customers one-stop shopping for their portable power needs. For the retailer, it allows them to offer consumers products for their individual needs."
She clarified, "The rechargeable market is growing at a rapid pace due to the growth of digital cameras. It is estimated that NiMH battery sales have increased more than 90 percent over the past two years." She admitted that rechargeable sales "are still less than 2 percent of total battery sales, but they are growing at a rapid rate, especially in accounts that sell a large portion of digital cameras, such as consumer electronics stores and mass merchants."
