RICOH THETA Plug-In Store Goes Live
Announced at the start of the year, the RICOH THETA Plug-In Store has now officially launched. In a statement today, RICOH said that its new online marketplace for downloadable software plug-ins is now live and accessible to the general public. The platform gives users of the RICOH THETA V 360-degree camera access to add-on functionality that includes things like live streaming, remote camera control, automatic image uploads, and more.
At launch, the Plug-In Store will have plug-ins created by Ricoh as well as organizations like Sony, NTT DOCOMO, and HoloBuilder.
Members of the RICOH THETA Plug-In Partner Program, which was launched last month, are able to create plug-ins for the THETA V and launch them in the Plug-In Store. The partner program gives third-party developers access to Ricoh’s Android-based plug-in software, which they can then use to create those plug-ins. Ricoh said that the open and familiar nature of the Android OS makes it simple for developers to dive right in. It also makes the THETA V a unique camera in the fact that its functionality can be expanded by installing these plug-ins, which is not a feature you’d typically find on similar 360-degree cameras.
