Between the launch of iOS 10 this week with its new Home app and the time I spent walking around the connected products section at IFA 2016, I’ve been thinking about the current state of affairs with the smart home and where we might be heading in the next few years.
As far as the different segments of the consumer tech industry are concerned, the smart home is one that consistently trends positive. Take, for example, one recent report that predicts in the next five years, the smart home market will more than quadruple to a $96 billion global industry. With all of the new smart appliances hitting the market almost every day, and consumers willingness to plug those devices in and hook them up to their home network, it’s not really that farfetched an estimate.
But what about the look and feel of the smart home? How might that change as technology continues to advance in this space?
