Known for their intuitiveness and outside-the-box thinking when it comes to gaming gear, ROCCAT looks to push the envelope yet again with their Horde AIMO keyboard. Available today through the ROCCAT website, Amazon, and Newegg for $89.99, the Horde AIMO keyboard features “Membranical” keys, which the manufacturer said combines the strengths of mechanical and membrane keys to offer a faster, more accurate gaming experience for the user.
In a statement, ROCCAT explained that the Membranical keys—a term coined by the company—have a midway travel actuation point which provides a “very precise and responsive keystroke” that is both fast and silent. ROCCAT went with an island key layout design that they said is intended to reduce the amount of dirt and other crumby material that could get between or underneath the keys. This makes the keyboard low-maintenance and allows for mid-height key design with “precision fingertip” curves that improve key distinction. It also means the Membranical keys offer up a 44 percent faster response rate than other keys on the market, according to ROCCAT.
