rOcean really doesn't care to reinvent the wheel, in fact, they are seemingly in a league of their own when it comes to flavoring, carbonating, and filtering water.
The market as a whole has definitely seen some strong competition. Without naming any specific brands, there are already a few stalwarts that are making a name for themselves in this otherwise hyperspecific market. But rOcean is bringing so many new and innovative turns to what I'll simply call the smart water maker market, that they seemingly don't have any direct competition.
It's like taking the best parts of all the water filtration, soda creating, carbonation infusing products and cramming into a super polished product.
The goal of the rOcean is simple: eliminate the use for single use water bottles. Many companies accomplish this through basic chamber filtration, but far less accomplish it via a tap intake and rOcean looks to be the only one who can offer flavor and carbonation as well.
The level of sustainability also runs through the entire product. The pods are reusable and dishwasher safe. The filters are stated to last for a full year and the arched design allows the user to fill any cup or bottle of their choice. rOcean will offer users recyclable refill pouches that can make about 5 liters of flavored water.
The product was first launched on Indiegogo and spotted at CE Week in New York City showing demos of their filtration. Although still in a prototype phase, demos showed the capabilities of the touchscreen design that allowed various amounts of carbonation and flavor to be added with additional thought to add voice and app integration down the line.
And that's what makes the rOcean so provocative. It's a product that has been clearly thought out. Without even mentioning the sheer amount of sustainability feats needed to create a product that doesn't amass litter or encourage single-use waste is one thing, but making it also look incredibly unique to the market with virtually unlimited flavor combinations is simply a work of art.
