Rotel Launches Three Amplifiers Under 90s Brand, Michi
Rotel has revived its iconic Michi brand from the mid-90s with three new amplifiers: the P5 Control Amplifier, S5 Stereo Amplifier and M8 Monoblock Amplifier. Available in the UK market, the Michi products offer exceptional audio performance wrapped up in a modern design.
Rotel admitted that the products took three years to develop as each component underwent exhaustive listening sessions by the engineering team. The bespoke components include custom oversized toroidal transformers mounted in dedicated, epoxy filled enclosures—all manufactured in-house to ensure minimal noise and vibration.
The P5 Control Amplifier is a Class A pre-amp with analog and digital source inputs including balanced input and output XLR’s, high-quality MM & MC phono stage inputs and apt-X Bluetooth wireless connection. The P5 features AKM 32-but DACs supported by 17 independent voltage regulators driven by two toroidal transformers with low ESR.
Pairing options for the P5 include the S5 Stereo Amplifier or a couple of M8 Monoblock Amplifiers. The Class AB designs are capable of delivering 500 watts and 1080 watts, respectively. Both amplifiers offer twin matched, over-size 2200 VoltAmp toroidal transformers to maintain control and precision while producing exceptional bass. An array of 32 high-current output devices drive the amplifier output stages reducing the load on individual components and are supported from 188,000uF of patented bulk storage capacitors. The result then is continuous power for fast but smooth, precise audio with unmatched rhythm and timing, even under extreme loading conditions.
“Michi is taking Rotel’s values of excellent performance and value into the high-end segment with models that offer new levels of engineering, build and design while setting new reference standards for audio performance,” says managing director Peter Kao. “We have used all of our 55 years of design and manufacturing experience to create our best ever products.”
The Michi line is available now with the P5 Control Amplifier coming in at £3299 ($4,244 USD), the S5 Stereo Amplifier running £5399 ($6,945 USD), and each M8 Monoblock Amplifier costing £5399 ($6,945 USD) each.
