RRBC Posts 12 Percent Recycling Gain
The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp. said Wednesday that it has posted a 12 percent increase in its collection numbers through its Call2Recycle program. The program covers rechargeable batteries and cell phones.
The group, which has collected 6.3 million pounds of the recycling products in North America in the past year, especially singled out Circuit City for expanding its recycling program, the state of New York for mandating battery recycling, and Canada for participating in the program for a full ten years.
The chairman of the non-profit’s board of directors, Doug Smith, said in a statement that the company is proud of the increase, and thanked their “many retail, consumer and community partners who have joined forces to further raise awareness of rechargeable battery recycling.” Smith is also director of corporate environmental affairs at Sony Electronics.
