Control and automation manufacturer RTI has begun shipping its new flagship T4x handheld remote control, which the company says raises the bar on smart home control. It offers a contemporary form factor that is smaller than its predecessor, and which works both aesthetically and synergistically with RTI’s attention to usage ergonomics. The remote has a high-resolution, customizable 4-inch capacitive touchscreen and fully programmable soft-touch buttons. Other advanced features including grip sensors, Wi-Fi and dual RF.
The control’s touchscreen provides swiping capability through pages and lists, while its 20 buttons deliver quick access to commonly used functions. The device’s integrated grip sensors keep the device awake during use, while an accelerometer provides instant-on activation.
The T4x offers integrated 802.11b/g/n wireless Ethernet to enable viewing of MJPEG video, wireless program updates and enhanced two-way control. The device’s dual RF platform supports both 433-MHz RF for one-way control and 2.4-GHz ZigBee for bi-directional communication with RTI processors and supported third-party electronics such as music servers, lighting, and HVAC systems.
